Clay and Pine Ceramics

Connect with me:

In 1985, I completed a three-year TAFE ceramics course incorporating hand building, wheel throwing, sculpture, design, and glaze development. After a long absence from pottery making, I reconnected with my love of clay, creating most of my work using hand building techniques.

What makes my products special

I create my pieces using a variety of hand building techniques - slabs, coils, pinching and kurinuki, a Japanese shaping technique.

I'm inspired by Japanese wood-fired ceramics, leading to my attending numerous workshops in Japan, but, in contrast, some of my work is influenced by the forms and decoration from primitive cultures.

Wood-firing is my obsession, so some of my work is wood-fired to 1300 deg. C, but most is fired in our home-based electric kiln to 1220 deg. C.
