Create a completed collage ready for framing. Bring a couple of magazines that have colours and textures that appeal to you. Treasured photos or other paper items should be laser copied. Other working materials will be provided.

This 5-hour Collage workshop is suitable for beginners.


Join us to explore the elements and principles of design to create a collage artwork that is distinctively yours.

You will be guided by an experienced tutor but the final result will be a unique personal expression.


Participants should bring:

  • A couple of magazines that include colours and textures that appeal to you that can be cut or torn up.

  • Laser photocopies of precious images should be made if you would like to incorporate such material.


Tuition includes all other materials required and the use of any tools and equipment that you may need.


Note: there will be a short lunch break during this workshop. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch, or can purchase food from Silverwood Cafe (next door to The Churn Room).

About John Massy

After a career in art teaching and work at the Queensland Art Gallery, John now pursues art making for himself. He has conducted workshops throughout Queensland over an extensive career.


His work was exhibited in The Little Room gallery at The Churn Room in 2024.


Notes for Workshop Participants


  • Please arrive 15 minutes before the workshop start time to get settled in our Workshop Area

  • Workshops are held in the Mezzanine, located upstairs within The Churn Room

  • Street parking is available on Williams Street

  • Workshop participants must wear closed in shoes and have long hair tied back.

  • We suggest wearing comfortable, breathable clothes suitable for warm weather conditions - we have fans, but our building is not air-conditioned

  • Access to the Mezzanine may be difficult for persons with significant mobility issues. It is not wheelchair accessible. Please consider this prior to booking.
