Beyond a glance: finding meaning through quiet contemplation

This guided slow-looking session invites participants to engage deeply with art in a gallery context, allowing for a richer connection and a more profound understanding of art and our personal response to it.

Through a series of prompts we will focus our attention, notice details, and uncover an understanding of the artwork we are observing.

By slowing down and looking with intention, we cultivate patience, curiosity, and deeper insight—into both art and the power of quiet contemplation.

All materials provided.

About World Collage Day

World Collage Day is an international celebration of collage held on the second Saturday of May every year.

Initiated in 2018 by Kolaj Institute, artists and venues around the world are invited to hold collage events which bring together people and community in a spirit of cooperation, support and creativity.

In the spirit of giving, this year local artist Amanda Gardner, is gifting two workshops that aim to share the joy of creative connection and learning through a contemplative process of slow looking and making.
