INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: Suitable for persons who have already completed an enamelling class with Galina, or have previous experience with enamelling in a kiln. Not suitable for beginners.
Through focused, hands-on instruction, participants will explore the painterly potential of enamel on metal, emphasising design development, technique refinement, and expressive colour work.
Key areas of focus will include:
Blank Preparation: Selecting and preparing metal surfaces for optimal enamel adhesion and painting results
Design Considerations: Translating sketches or concepts into enamel-friendly compositions
Painting Techniques: Working with painting enamels, layering, shading, and line work
Colour Blending & Tonal Variation: Creating smooth transitions, expressive palettes, and visual depth
Firing Strategy: Managing multiple firings to preserve colour clarity and surface quality
Students will work on a small enamel panel, developing their own imagery or abstract compositions while refining their technical and artistic approach. The workshop will balance guided instruction with individual experimentation, ideal for those seeking to bring greater subtlety and intention to their enamelling practice.

About Galina Ramensky-Manoiloff
"For the past 20 years, I have dedicated myself to the craft of jewellery-making and enamelling, with a particular focus on the intricate techniques of cloisonné and champlevé enamelling. My love for enamelling continues to deepen as I explore its endless possibilities, blending delicate grains of glass with precious metals to create one-of-a-kind pieces. The ability to shape raw materials, from glass to metal, and incorporate precious and semi-precious stones into each creation is both challenging and profoundly rewarding.
Drawing inspiration from a vast array of sources from the rich history of renowned artists to the natural world that surrounds me each piece I create reflects my personal journey and vision. The fusion of enamel, metal, and gemstones allows me to tell unique stories, with every work carrying the soul of my creativity.
My journey as an artist has been enriched by the opportunity to study Japanese enamelling techniques in Osaka and Nagoya, Japan, as well as with some of the world’s most esteemed enamellists. These experiences have further fuelled my belief that the key to artistic growth lies in lifelong learning. I consider myself a perpetual student, constantly honing my craft and expanding my knowledge.
In addition to my personal work, I am honoured to teach and share my passion for enamelling with my students. I see myself not only as an artist but also as an advocate for this beautiful art form, guiding others in their own creative journeys. To me, the true joy of enamelling lies in its ability to inspire self-expression and ignite the imagination of those who encounter it."
