We invite you to let the magic of our space inspire exploring your creativity. Switch off from the pressures of life, and relax with one of our artisan workshop facilitators while learning new skills to create something handmade by YOU!
Our dedicated workshop area is located on the mezzanine of the old Dayboro Butter Factory. You'll find us a short stroll through the Silverwood cafe outdoor dining area, take a minute to have breakfast or a coffee on your way through. Alternatively enter via The Handmade Closet shop on the verandah.
The Dayboro Butter Factory is opposite the Art Gallery, which is well worth a visit as is a wander up the main street of our sweet little town of yesteryear.

Life Drawing
The Churn Room

Held on the first Sunday of every month, we will offer a morning and afternoon session provided minimum numbers are reached

Enjoy the freedom of untutored drawing of a live model. Experience is not essential to experience life drawing.
The sessions are designed to encourage you to be comfortable experimenting with drawing in your own way while enjoying our unique environment.

All participants are invited to join in the optional end of year showcase (date to be announced)

Foundations of Jewellery Making

This multi workshop program will introduce you to the five main skills sets that form the foundation of metalsmithing.
You will explore cutting metal with a jewellers saw; learn and understand the techniques to use files to shape your metal; annealing to shape metal; texturing and dapping to form shapes; soldering to join your shapes and pickling. Once your jewellery fabrication has been done, you will learn techniques to add that finishing touch with burnishing, buffing, polishing and patination. You will need to attend all 4 classes to complete the full course, .
During the course you will practice on base metals (copper, aluminium or brass. In addition to the pieces you make from base metals you will be able to make 2 – 3 pieces from sterling silver – earrings, rings, bangle.
This workshop is for 16+ years only and will require a minimum of 4 participants to go ahead.

Leather Handbag Making

Imagine using a leather handbag you made yourself. During the workshop you will receive instruction on how to work with the leather in your bag making kit. You will cut your bag, finish the edges, make the stitching marks, use a traditional linen thread and hand sewing method to construct your bag. Each step in the process will be guided with individual assistance.
Workshop cost covers all materials and tools required.

Embrace the natural beauty and warmth of Copper while creating your own Earrings, Bracelet or Christmas Standing Ornament.
In these 3hr workshops, you'll learn basic jewellers techniques using recycled copper sheeting.
Create beautiful textures with our select range of hammers and add details using metal stamps. You'll also learn how to use a jewellers saw to cut out your shape, amongst other tools for finishing.
Workshop cost covers all materials required to complete your jewellery or tree ornaments.
To allow equal use of tools - class sizes are kept small - minimum numbers apply.

Further Skills in Metalsmithing

These workshops build on the skills learnt in the Foundations course.
The content of the workshop is responsive to the students needs but will generally cover creating a bezel, soldering it onto a ring or pendant back plate; creating a decorative bail and soldering it onto the backplate of a pendant; setting stones into the bezel and finishing the piece with polishing, applying patina or other finishing techniques.
These workshops are run in small group format so that participants receive individual attention.

Mixed Media Collage & mark Making

Each of Glenn's stand alone workshops will be loosely based on his own art practice.
The intention is for you to leave the workshop with a more or less completed artwork as well as some new skills or ideas for developing your own art practice.
A range of materials will be provided so there is no real need to bring anything but your enthusiasm. To personalize your work you could bring along: a notebook or journal,
paint brushes,books or magazines (pictures and text), stamps, ticket stubs, old letters, artists acrylic paints in colours you like
Topics covered will include composition, mark making, collage, layering and mixed media approaches to creating artworks.
This stand alone workshop is being offered on the following dates, come to one or book to attend all three.

Create your own Lino Prints

In this workshop you will explore a form of relief printing carving a design onto a piece of printmaking lino to create your own black and white print.
What will you create?
Unique prints that you can keep as printed or use them to hand colour the prints to have an edition of unique works of art.
You can frame your prints as artworks for yourself or to give as gifts to others. They can also be made into one-of-a-kind cards to send to the special people in your life. No prior experience is required to enjoy this fun workshop. It would be good to bring some simple line drawings along to the workshop that you might like to transfer to lino. If you are concerned about your drawing skills at all, your instructor will provide you with some templates to use.

Botanical printing with Gel Plates

Create unique, colourful monoprints. Frame your prints as artworks for yourself or to give as gifts to others. They can also be made into one-of-a-kind cards to send to the special people in your life, or use your prints as collage materials for your artwork. No prior experience is required to enjoy this fun workshop. We will be using botanicals, stencils and other objects to create layers, shapes and texture. Let your imagination run free with colour and shape to create your own unique prints.
All art materials are provided. Old clothes or an apron are recommended as we use acrylic paint in the printing process. Bring along some leaves – including weeds – from your garden or a nearby park. Fresh leaves laid flat between the pages of a book work well.
Light refreshments will be provided.

Spoon Carving

In this hands-on workshop, woodcarving artist Theresa Darmody will show you how to carve your own beautiful wooden spoon. Participants will learn how to safely and efficiently use a carving knife, drawknife and gouge. You'll also get tips on how to best finish off your spoon with scrapers, sandpaper, burnishers and oil. No experience necessary but workshops would also suit people with some carving experience who want to learn more.
Participants must wear closed-in shoes, thanks.

Carve a Bud Vase

In this hands-on workshop participants will choose from a variety of timbers to make their very own dry bud vase. No experience is required, just a desire to learn how to carve a beautiful vase. Participants will learn how to safely and efficiently use a number of carving tools including drawknife and sloyd knife, as well as becoming familiar with timber grain and how to best work with it. The workshop is run by experienced woodcarver Theresa Darmody, her work can be seen on Instagram @theresadarmody
